Anton Struchkov
Program Associate, Research and Publications
Anton joined the Coady Institute in January 2011, bringing over 15 years of experience working in various research capacities as well as in the academic publishing field and the NGO sector. Much of his previous work was dedicated to designing and implementing participatory wildlife conservation programs along with developing community engagement processes enabling local people to tap into the multiple benefits they can derive from protecting and respectfully using their natural heritage.
A passionate supporter of community-based adaptive livelihood strategies, Anton has promoted them through a number of publishing endeavours, among them launching the first-ever environmental awareness and wildlife conservation journal in the English language to be produced in Russia.
Before coming to the Coady Institute, Anton was based in Moscow, Russia as coordinator of educational projects with the Russian Committee for the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere program. In this role, he developed a wide range of initiatives aimed to encourage public participation in various wildlife recovery programs.
As research and publications program associate at the Coady, Anton is responsible for coordinating the production of the Institute’s research publications — from reviewing, editing, and writing copy through design and layout to printing and dissemination. He is also involved in research on innovative participatory conservation approaches and emerging models of community ecological governance.
Anton holds a Master of Science in Environmental Studies from Moscow State University and a Postgraduate Certificate in the History of Biological Conservation from the Russian Academy of Sciences.
