Certificate Programs

Our certificate programs are highly participatory courses focused on specific topics.  They give candidates the opportunity to share ideas and to exchange experiences with each other and  in the fall semester with participants in the Institute's Diploma Program.  A wide variety of presentation, case study, and experiential and participatory education methods are used. For your convenience we offer certificate programs in both the spring and fall.  The schedule is arranged so that it is possible to take two certificates, one after the other. See the graphic below the program schedule.

T
aking back-to-back courses.

Coady Institute certificate programs are offered back-to-back so you can take multiple certificates over a six-week period, concentrating learning time and travel investment. As an example, you could take Advocacy and Citizen Engagement followed by Good Governance and Social Accountability Tools and then Community-Driven Health Impact Assessment. Similarly in the fall you could take Community-Based Natural Resource Management followed by Learning Organizations and Change - or any other combination you choose. With this option you will have the opportunity to study multiple development areas intensively in a concentrated time. To apply for this option, simply indicate the certificates you are interested in on the application form.
