Retired since June 2012, Susan J. Bird has over thirty-five years of corporate management and consulting experience in bringing a business perspective to the application of information technology in both the public and private sectors. A former teacher, Susan’s corporate experience includes TD Bank, The IAC Group of Companies, Continental Bank of Canada, National Life of Canada, the Development Corporations of Ontario and JTS Systems. Prior to founding Flying in Formation Inc. in 1998, Susan’s consulting experience includes co-founding Workflow Solutions Group Inc. in 1994 and acting as its President for four years, three years as an independent consultant, and four years in the Information Technology practice of the Coopers & Lybrand Consulting Group in Toronto. Clients have included financial services, health care, hospitality, public utilities, and government organizations.
Susan has served in leadership roles on a number of international professional association boards since 1978, and since 2000 turned her attention to community volunteer activities in the non-profit sector, most recently in support of the Daughters for Life Foundation and currently fundraising with the Coalition for Music Education in Canada to help ensure that music remains a vital component in the education of all Canadian children and youth. The is the second time that Susan has been a mentor for the Canadian Women’s Foundation Leadership Institute in partnership with the Coady International Institute.
